It was Diya's birthday. She was treating her friends on this occasion. When the treat was almost over, Arvind enters the Cafeteria.
Hey Guyz!! Wassup??? Looks like a celebration!!!
"Hey Arvind! Its a birthday celebration... Join Us", says Rishi
Yeah man... But tell me whose birthday it is?
Its Diya's birthday dude!! Hey Diya! Come here...
"Hi Arvind!", Diya waves her hand with a subtle smile though the excitement of having met Arvind's eyes was ripping her life from inside.
Hi Diya! Wish you a very happy birthday :)
No. It is not today. It was yesterday..
Oh! I am sorry. My belated wishes on your birthday..
"Rishi!! Where are you?? Come here and listen to what Adi is saying"
Rishi disappears....
The noise around could not break their silence. Realizing that Diya is not going to initiate a conversation, Arvind starts..
Diya! So tell me about you.. Where are you from? How long have you known Rishi?
Wow!! Wow!! Arvind!! This is too fast for me... Gimme some time to take my eyes off you..
With this thought running in her mind, her mouth had started spilling the response automatically..
Though the recognized seasons are 4 in number, its always been one for Diya and Arvind - Spring. Their acquaintance blossomed to friendship which eventually did blossom to love with everyone but them knowing it. It can also be thought that they did not really want to realize what was happening between them.
Nobody can escape reality and live with pretensions for long... Diya and Arvind were no exceptions to this.
During the usual long hours of telephonic conversation, Arvind says,
"Diya! Forgot to tell ya.. My family has this customary annual trip planned for 20 days. This year it is going to be Kulu and Manali. It is going to be absolutely exciting. Full 20 days away from college, out of every single connection, having nothing but fun."
"Diya! Are you there???? heloooooo"
A preoccupied Diya says, "Nice to know that dude!! Have fun"
Arvind: Are you ok? Is there anything bothering you? Do you want me to call ya after a while?
Absolute silence from Diya's end confirms that something is indeed wrong.
Arvind: Tell me whats wrong... Let me see if I can help you with it.
Diya: What are we upto? Whats happening?
A: I don't understand the context. Could you please make things more clear?
D: Don't you see what is happening? Everyday immediately after I wake up, I start messaging you; we do this all through the day; meet during break and lunch; keep messaging on the way back home; talk over the phone once we reach home; after a while, messages again start flying; till a last "Good Night. Sweet Dreams" after which we chat for close to an hour.
D: When I see from outside, I don't see just Diya anymore. All I see is "Diya with Arvind." I am not sure if this is what we both want of life or is it just happening this way.
Arvind... Are you there? Are you even listening?
A: Yes.
D: I want an answer from you. Where exactly is this heading to?
A: Diya.. I don't know what is the kind of response you expect of me. I know for a matter of fact that I like talking with you and I enjoy your company. I don't know what else you want to know.
D: How long Arvind? How long is this going to be like this? For a life time? Ten years down the line, when we both have families, do you think we would still want to be the same? I expect a very practical response to this question. Please don't play around with words now.
A: No.
D: No for what?
A: For your question. We can't be the same ten years down the line.
D: Thanks Arvind.. So where exactly are we going to draw the line? What is the name we are giving this relationship of ours?
A: Diya.. It is you who is playing around with words now. I just don't understand what you want to hear from me. I don't understand why a discussion on my trip triggers something totally out of the way. Which part of this is troubling you Diya?
D: When I say bye to all my friends everyday, it is more like "Guyz!! Thanks for the fun, Catch ya later." With you, its not the same. I beg and plead myself to spend more and more time with you. When I go out to meet my friends, I wear what I like the most. But when I come to meet you, I think about what you said you like. I have started placing your interests before mine. It is YOU that matters to me more than my own self. I don't want to do this to some guy with whom I am going to share a "Hi-Bye" relationship.
A: Do you mean to say you are in love with me?
D: Does that mean that you have never thought about it even once till this moment?
A: Well!! Diya!! I am definitely not ready for it.
D: I know that. But if I am gonna let this continue, it would take me elsewhere. I would never be able to get back from there when you actually say something different. I need a clear cut definition for this relationship.
A: You have spoken for me.. You make the decision too.. Do I even have a choice to make my point?
D: You do. Tell me what you expect of me? Only a good friend? If so, I want you to tell me right away.
A: I want you with me forever as my good friend.
D: Nothing more; nothing less; Am I right?
A: ***Silence***
D: I am taking it as a confirmation.
Diya and Arvind are only friends. Good Friends....

Diya! Wake up!!! You are no more in school now... Its your first day of college and look at you, sleeping like a kid...

Diya!!!I must say... You have learnt nothing but to talk all these years...
"Mom!!! That's what you have taught your daughter", chuckled Diya.
Diya! Now stop arguing and get to business... Get ready.. I don't want you to miss the college bus..
(After half an hour) Bye Mom!!! Diya rushes to the bus stop to miss the bus by a few seconds.
Oops! What next?? Auto!!! Could you please drop me at the University? Its getting late..
Diya boards the auto and heads straight to college...
First day at college
New faces; New ambience; Most of all no more uniforms :D Yippeee.. Diya waits to meet someone whom she could smile at and expect some reciprocation..

Round the corner was Vivek, a friend of Diya's, from school.
Come.. Meet my friends - Rahul, Sanjay, Karthik and Preethi. Hey guys!! This is Diya, my friend from school, BE in Electronics... A brief introduction to her would be "Study.. Study.. Anything else???" - You can see this quote unanimously in her slam book.
A mixed expression of blush and anger floods Diya's face. Vivek!! Is it necessary to say all this?? Guyz!! Am no such nerd as he describes.. He is just exaggerating :) He is very well known for that...
Talking all this, her eyes traverse right to left across the corridor to find a known face... Wait a minute.. Her eyes came to a standstill when they met the eyes of this guy who's smile was so obviously captivating.
After looking at him for one full minute, she realizes that its really odd to stare at random dudes. By then, they had actually exchanged smiles and a "hi, how are you?" without talking.
C'mon guys!! Why must you talk when your eyes can actually express everything??
But then, for a levelheaded, self-conscious Diya, it was embarrassing.. No more of exchanging smiles with random guys.. With this thought running in her mind, she heads to her classroom just to hear someone call her.. Diya!!!!!!!!!!!!
She turns back to realize Rishi heading towards her. "Hey Diya! You have been staring at me for a while now, if you realize. I thought you would stop by and say a hi. Wassup Madam?? Lost in whose thoughts on the very first day of college ;)" Rishi is a good friend of hers from school. Though they have not spent much time together, knowing that they are in the same plane, turn out to be good friends (look out for more about them :))
Oops!! Now I know why this guy was smiling at me and he very well knows that I did not realize the presence of Rishi anywhere around. A very subtle smile on his face said that all, making her feel even more embarrassed.
Diya! This is Arvind from Computer Science. Arvind.. Diya.. I was just telling him about you.
"Hi Diya" Nice to meet you.. A sudden chill runs through her spine when she heard his mesmerizing voice.. WTH is happening??
"Hellooooooo"
"Oh! Sorry!! Same here"
They both shook hands (who knows if these hands are made to be together forever ;))

Days of togetherness now seemed so distant!!!
Guess what can surpass the speed of light???? Gossip!!!!!!!!!! Yes... And no one can escape that... Every Tom, Dick and Harry comes and asks Tammy (Tamanna) about it... Now, No offense meant guyz... Jus happens that no Tina, Mina or Lekha are used in common :P

Tammy: Hi Trupthi!!! Howz class? How've you been???
Trup: Tammy!! Listen!! I wanna talk to you... Its abt you and Rishi... Hope you dun mind...
Tammy: Go on Trupthi... Dun be so formal.. "As if you guyz have ever bothered abt how we felt wrt whatever u guyz have been upto"
Trup: Tammy!!! Pls dun be so sarcastic... I wanna help u guyz...
Tammy: Oh really!! C'mon madam!! Shoot!!!
Trup: Do you think you really know what you want of Rishi or what kinda feelings he has for you?? Why dont you sit and talk it out with him??? May be u guyz are so unclear about what you feel for each other... And expect somethin to happen within this short span of time of being together... Hope you get what I mean in the right sense...

Rishi Vs Tamanna
Never were the two bothered about each other after that parting... Exploring and enjoying the new life that they have been exposed to :) Hey!! Wait a minute!! How cud the two of them not be bothered at all.... After all, same department.... And therez lots more to happen between them...
Hi Tamanna! Remember me??? Rishi here!!! And here it goes... "My first ever friend in this university man!!! Glad to have got a friend like him... Very nice fellow" - These were the words from Tamanna's mouth when she was asked about the kind of friends she made...
Their friendship blossomed from there... Wonderful compatibility (This may be associated well with couple by most ppl... But this is apt with frenz cos couple always have a compromise coming into picture, but frenz dont..) Meeting everyday, speakin over the fone, fightin for petty things, their friendship grew up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky (I understand that you guyz wud wanna slap me!!!) And here comes THE DAY!!!!

Friends are too good... Awesome to be with... Lovable blah blah... But friends do have a very bad habit of poking their nose into unnecessary, unwanted issues.... Blowing them outta proportion... The irony is that they claim to care for us and wanna help us - in this attempt, they mess up and ruin not only our relationship but also ours with theirs...
Why would Rishi and Tamanna be exceptions??? After all, even they are human... and they do have loads and loads of friends on earth... Guys wait a minute!!! Rishi is such a patient chap.... Patience personified... and Tamanna.... Well!!! People who jus know her or who have not bothered to know her better, claim that she is such a rebel, keeps jabbering, pretty outward in her thoughts.... But the fact is that she has got much patience than him, pretty Indian.. sticks to her values and culture.. doesn't really express out what she feels... but yes.. ask her for a view on somethin, she can give it the very next minute... Rishi always claims, "Tamanna!!! You pretend to know everythin or you think you know" but he has never realised that she has not uttered a single word about what she doesn't know.. yeah.. may be he never bothered to know her...
Okies... Lets get back to business.... This intro to their attitude is necessary for you to actually feel the forthcoming incidents....
Yeah... Where did i leave??? Frenz teasing... which is pretty natural guyz... after all, even they need some topic to discuss about na... Initially, Rishi was never bothered... Tamanna has never been bothered :P (Now, dun mistake her like everyone else does...) She has her own views on life... She would not wanna lose her friend jus for such petty stuff... Gimme a break guyz!!! at this age, I guess maturity is somethin that should go without saying at this age...
Well!!! Here comes THE DAY!!! A day of outing... A whole day which Rishi and Tamanna were gonna spend together, with their other frenz... Where there is a gang, there is expected a lotta fun... Obvious that these guyz were the target for them...
"Hey Rishi!!! Pose like this.. Pose like that...", says Karan...
"Tamanna!!! Why don't you come along and stand with us...", says Trupthi...
"Guyz!!! A pic together...", says Shekar (of course to the two of them..)
When things went overboard, it broke the threshold of Rishi's... It might sound silly for us to read... But yeah.. put yourself in a situation and imagine yourself to be Rishi... Going thru such irritations and frustrations every single day...
"C'mon guys!!! Gimme a break!!!", yells Rishi... The next minute, Rishi starts firing Tamanna.. "Hey Tamanna!!! Don't you think its getting a bit too much???" "Why the hell do you not ask these guyz to stop this crap?" "What the hell do you think in your mind" "Do you enjoy such talks about us?" "If so, am not game for it madam!!! It SUCKS!!!" These were the words that came out of Rishi's mouth...
Tamanna was flabbergasted by the entire drama... But she knew that this is the limit!! She is one person who cannot lose her dignity...
"Hey Rishi!!! This is the limit!! If this is the extent to which you know me, Thanks for everything and a big Good Bye to you... Do you think ppl are gonna stop if we retaliate?? No way!! they can stop only when they get some other topic to discuss about... And once that happens, they will not be bothered about us... Thot you would have realised this very simple fact... Anyways thanks for all the care, concern, affection, friendship blah.. blah... I have my own dignity and pride which I dun wanna lose for a misunderstood friendship"
"WE CANNOT BE HAPPY FRIENDS WHEN SUCH A THOT ABOUT ME HAS CROPPED IN YOUR MIND." Saying this, Tamanna just walks off...
The whole crowd keeps staring at her... With Rishi in a state of turmoil... "Oh!! Should I not have spoken like this??? But how else can I make others realise what I feel??? At the same time, how can I hurt a woman for no mistake of hers... But look at her, such self-esteem, not even turning back once to look at me..." A state of "I dunno what to do next" prevails in Rishi...
"Hey Tamanna!!! Just turn back once.. Pls..." Dude!! C'mon!! You wanna try out telepathy after breaking her heart!!! Nuts or what????
There goes Tamanna... Rishi sees her disappear in front of his eyes....

Rishi meets Tamanna!!! contd...
Thinking that he must be heading to her University, Tamanna joins the immigration clearance queue... Lost in her own thoughts of how life is gonna be, she turns to see Rishi behind her (literally though!!!) Even before the formal hello types conversation cud get over, she realises that he is a shying away kinda guy and he realises that she loves talking :) (But first impressions are not always the best!!!!.) They both were heading to the same University to do the same major :) Her asking questions and his giving answers went on and on and here they arrive at the immigration counter...
Now, comes the twist... Not a twist in the story but a twist in thot... Tamanna seems to have a lotta additional checks to be performed resulting in a longer wait when Rishi was already done with the clearance... "Gosh!! I cant believe that Rishi is waiting for me." Good Lord!!! Guys do know ETHICS... The one look he gave her at that moment was a complete reassurance that she was gonna have someone for her at the University :) Thinking to herself that she sees a potential good friend in him, she joins him and heads towards the gate for their next flight...
WTH!!! We just have 10 min for the flight to take off and look at this Rishi... Crawling as slow as a snail... After long walks and halts, on reaching the gate, they get to know that their seats have been dropped and gotto wait for the next flight.. God!! Damn!! How sickening cud a first international flying experience turn out... After a couple of bargains, they were allotted different seats in the flight... (I know... How irritating it wud be for people who want them to fall in love :P) Tamanna being damn tired, dozes off to sleep not least bothered about the poor chap (Here.. I know what guys wud think of... Women are Women Indeed :))
Michigan Airport, 9.30 pm
After all hovering business, the flight finally landed at the destination... Cool man!!! Atlast!!! Here again, Rishi meets Tamanna for the third time (Lots more to come though!!) Wait for the baggage is yet another horrible experience in life... "Hey!! Thats my baggage!! Atlast its come in one piece", says Tamanna... Next she starts lookin out for Rishi's baggage... Gimme a break guys!!! She is indeed a very friendly person who just cant attempt to be ridiculously formal with people... Hold on!!! Aahaaa... Rishi's baggage is here... All open and broken :(
Rishi is not really comfortable with the kinda help offered by Tamanna wrt arranging stuff in his broken baggage, carrying it, offering him some food etc... "Why the hell should this woman do all this to me? After all, we have jus met.." And as Tamanna's thots wander thinking "Jab we met, tab hi we became frenz." Okies... Now they are all set to go and meet the seniors who have come to receive them...
Oh no!!! Gotto call my dad before that to inform him that I have landed safe... I dont have coins!! How dumb!!! Cursing herself Tamanna keeps walking struggling hard with the baggage... Was it mind reading or wat??? Next minute, Rishi gives her the calling card asking her to inform people back in India about her arrival.. He also tells her to stay right there and that he would come back and help her with the baggage... Man!! Watz happening!!! Why is this guy a hotch potch of sweet and weird stuff...
Reaching the entrance of the airport, they are greeted by the seniors with lil intro here and there and finally they board the bus to the UNIVERSITY!!! Absolutely no talking, sitting far apart in the bus, as though strangers, they start talking to the rest of the students who had arrived with them... Here, we are, at the University... Now starts the allocation for temporary accomodation.. Knowing a couple of gals in the University even before arrival, Tamanna proposes to the seniors tat she prefers stayin with those gals and doesn want any temporary accomodation... And here they are, all set to drop her at the friend's place... Her eyes traversing all thru the area... Where the hell has he gone??????? Yeah.. Rishi was still busy getting to know the seniors... But its time for her to leave!!!
Wont he even turn and look at her once for her to say a BYE... After all that is what ethics is all about :) Well!!! No acknowledgement from his end... How dumb of you Tamanna!!! Ethics has no values in this world... Jus walk off....

Rishi meets Tamanna!!!

Rishi - pretty much a next door guy (I hate heroism!!!) is all enthusiastic and geared up for his first trip to the U.S... Not jus cos its the United States but cos he is gonna pursue his masters... A dream awaiting fulfilment... You never know!! Whats in store for you!!!! :)
Here is Rishi, heading towards the local telephone zone at the airport, to call up all his frenz and say an Adios. To his disappointment, there were no telephones free... That doesn really bother him cos he has lots of time before the flight.. But waiting waiting and waiting, he finds that no one was ready to leave the phone free even for a minute...
All this might have gone unnoticed but for Tamanna... Here, she is, a bundle of joy, full of fun, happily chatting with her frenz over the fone and observing this guy from a corner... She thinks it wud be fair enuf to give this poor guy a chance to use the fone... After all, he is a poor guy.... Rather she thinks every guy is poor...
Though she noticed him, things din really register in her mind and to Rishi she was an unknown who wud have wanted to take a break from the receiver hanging from the ears which had earrings much bigger than the receiver though...
Whatta coincidence!!! They end up taking the same plane.. Heading to the same place... But still unknown to each other!!! After a tiresome 7 hour journey, they reach London.. Here the wait is for 3 hours.... Poor gal!! She jus cant kill time like this.... Never has she liked to do it... In such a big airport, what else can be done except for getting to know where is what and hiding your face behind the book and waiting....
The wait was finally over!!! And she goes to board the next flight to Chicago... In the flight, she meets a stranger (of course he wud be.. how dumb!! and no wild imaginations pls!!) Cud she even keep a person a stranger in life for long???? No way!!! They start discussing about U.S., India, Economy, Studies wat not!!! Now its time to get off a flight....

What the hell!!!! 3 international flights arriving in a row!!!! Such a long queue!!! When am I even looking at clearing all the formalities and catchin the next flight to Michigan??? Depressing such situations are............ that too when you are all alone travellin thousands of miles!!!

ATTITUDE!!!!! - A Random Thought
"ATTITUDE" - A term that is considered to have just one meaning... Yet has a whole lot of association...
I am not here to talk about positive and negative attitude but the "ATTITUDE" that people show...
"You know what??? Am unbeatable... People tend to fall for me!"
"I am one person who is the best and I give a damn to wth others think about me!"
"I can make any person dance to my tunes!"
These are a couple of statements that we get to hear from the self-claimed confident bundle of people. Guess what?? Most of them tend to have doubts about their ownselves... On how talented they are; the caliber they claim to have;
Everything is so vague in their mind yet they pretend to be the BEST!!!
Looking at it from another perspective, we can claim that they are the BEST in a way that they make people believe in their words... Rather many a times, they tend to thrust it on others... Opponents who don't react are considered to be dumb, by these guys!!! To be frank, through such opinions, these guys once again prove that they are dumb and have nothing but an ATTITUDE.
Observers may be of two types - the ones who love to hear all that these guys say and be mesmerized; the others who tend to stay silent, observe and react only when they need to... Both kinds of people are smart in their own sense, be it with knowing people or getting a knowledge transfer from the ATTITUDE ians.
But these dumbos with ATTITUDE presume that they are SUCCESSFUL all the time...
Well!!! To be honest, I dunno what made me write this... But then the moral of this is just to pass on the information to the world that
"EVERY MAN IS SPECIAL, SENSIBLE AND INTELLIGENT IN HIS OWN SENSE AND YOUR ATTITUDE (wrt context) WILL LEAD YOU NOWHERE."
"LEARN TO RESPECT AND VALUE PEOPLE AS MUCH AS THEY DO OR IF POSSIBLE MORE THAN THAT."

Individuality, Independence and Eccentricity!!!!
Can a person ever be independent in life???
What is wrong when you think out of the box??? Why are we always considered to be unconventional when we do that???
Or is being unconventional a crime???
Well!!! These questions are not hypothetical, neither are the answers philosophical....
Not everyone knows what he wants at every single point in time.... If one says he is very clear in his mind and desires in life at any point in time, its cos he believes what he actually wants to believe in, immaterial of whether he would actually believe it or not!!!
Okie... Looks like am complicating things :)
Here, we go!!!
If we are independent in our thoughts and tell people what we feel right away, we are the so called arrogant ones...
If we say, I have my own identity, my own desire in life, we are considered to be selfish...
Being practical most of the times makes people think you are so eccentric in life and you are stone hearted, putting yourself into a nutshell and not really caring about others' emotions.
I dun really understand why any sane human would wanna do all this in life... Can't people even understand this very simple fact???
Just cos you are emotional does not really mean that you can get everything that you want by showering or dumping all your feelings on the person who is analytical and logical in life and expect him to deliver what you want...
Every human does have every right to decide on what he wants in life, what his priorities are and how he wants to live in life... Jus cos of the mere fact that you want him, you just cant thrust your feelings on him and drive him crazy... You never know!!! The ultimate acheivement of yours would end up as pushing a very sensible person into a state of mental depression...
Its high time people tend to realise that practical and sensible people who are a little analytical and logical compared to the chunk of so called 'emotional people', do have emotions and feelings in life... It is also essential to understand that they are not eccentric but are considered to be so, by the society...
The motive of this post is to warn the so called "eccentrice ones" that a very serious attempt to make them become part of the most illogical, stereo typed group, is on in this society of ours and they dont have a choice but to keep fighting against all odds forever and prove the theory - "SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST."
